  1. Hi John,

I like the notion, and mainly because people often drive themselves crazy during the holiday season. They think of all the things they have to buy, all the parties they have to host, and ultimately end up overwhelmed with stress and feeling miserable. Not the purpose of the holiday if you ask me, and I think much of what you mention could help people find this balance. Thanks!

    • I agree Joe – the pointless pursuit of a perfect Christmas to please others when merely being in a room full of those we love is priceless in itself. I wish you a priceless Christmas my friend in every way!

  2. LOVE IT!!

Off to start my own part John ;-)

  3. This is great, John! I’m always reminded of those people who always want to please others and an almost compulsive need to make others happy, at there own expense. And that last phrase is the most important part. When we do what others want in a knee-jerk manner, ignoring the gnaw inside our hearts because we really want it done differently, then we are burying ourselves in the dirt of other people’s desires. We undermine and undercut ourselves, discounting who we are.

Yours seems to me to be a call, not so much to selfishness as much as a call to accept ourselves as worthy of being happy as well. It is a call to seek win-win solutions over lose-win solutions. It’s the call to love ourselves as much as others, to give ourselves permission to desire and permission to get what we desire.

Thanks for the call to accept our own innate value.

Hope your Christmas was deeply rewarding, filled with family and loved ones just simply being.

    • Hi Ken, many thanks hombre, I had an interesting Christmas on every level (more to come soon) but one that ultimately will lead to a year and life that this post talks about for Christmas – one I want for me. Why can’t the Christmas message last the whole year through, right?

  4. I have never made Christmas about me and I think I need too. I am exhausted and I think it’s because I am accommodating everyone but taking care of myself. Ahhhh. Ok. Next year… New Christmas rules! My rules!

    • Hi Meg, Happy New Year and I hope it will be as bright and happy as they come for you. You sound like you are ready to let go of pleasing others to please yourself more often. Bravo! Why not have a life for you? Enjoy every dazzling minute x

  5. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I think one of the best things we can do this year is be the change we want to see and set the pace for a year of passion and positive impact.

    • Ditto on every level J.D. – when we change everything else changes too. It’s Universal spark in action. We are the sparks of creation. May 2012 be yours in every way!
