How To Be Lucky In Only 5 Steps
I’ve been lucky, I’ll be lucky again
Actress, Bette Davis
Wouldn’t it be great to be lucky?
Just imagine it! The good times rolling in all the time. Good fortune always knocking on your door. Kismet and chance on your side. Destiny and prosperity on a regular basis. Fate dealing you a winning hand when you need it.
Who gets luck like that? And how on earth do they get it?
The answer to the first question is anyone and to the second I’m going to reveal right now, so if you want some luck keep reading on.
You are only 5 steps away
Luck is no mysterious force. No magic spell or divine gift. It’s not an elusive favour reserved for and bestowed upon the few. Nor is there any requirement to have a stockpile of assets to encourage its appearance in your life.
From prince to pauper luck is an everywhere and everyone reality simply waiting to be welcomed and utilised. The truth is it’s like air itself.
And the even better news is that you can experience real luck in only 5 steps. Starting today!
SO, do you want some luck? Great, because here it comes………….
Just tell yourself , Duckie, you’re really quite lucky
Dr Seuss
Step 1 -Adopt the attitude
Ask any person considered lucky how they do it and most will point to their mentality. Their mindset is one that only focuses only on the constant times and occasions that luck shows up and nothing else.
They don’t downplay any good events and never cite the odd tough spell as proof positive that they are unlucky or never get the breaks. Nor do they believe that they never have any luck while everyone else does. To them luck begins with the attitude that it’s always there and part of their everyday life. They are glad not sad. To do that you….
Step 2 – Begin witnessing it
Luck exists on many levels not merely big lottery wins or huge twists of fate. Luck is also a subtle daily undercurrent. Once you start witnessing it in action it begins to permeate more and more into your world.
Examples would be a free parking space appears as you arrive in a packed car park, or it pours down with rain the moment you get home from exercise or walking the dog, or you go to buy a dress you’ve had your eye on and bag the last one in your size (and even at a sale discount). Even finding small coins here and there counts. Luck begins at the lower levels and then spreads so keep your eyes peeled. Soon you will have super seeing. And after that....
Step 3 – Spread the word
People who term themselves unlucky act that way – eyes down, quiet and unassuming, talking to few people. Lucky souls are 360 degrees the other way. They talk to and look at everyone and that’s a secret luck activator strategy. Those who know lots of people have more opportunity to reach out and connect.
They find it far easier to share their ideas and ask for help, be invited places and introduced to others more often, call on greater advice or support, have access to a huge network of people their friends and associates know which includes their skills base, professional contacts, and information they hold. And they have the advantage of building strong alliances and making good friendships. That multiply the more people they talk to.
And all it takes is to strike up conversation wherever you go. In a coffee queue. On a train or plane. At the gym or in a supermarket. Anywhere. Just say, ‘hi’ or ‘it’s a lovely day’ or a million of other phrases. Small but special words. Get to know people and soon your contact list will grow. And the more folks you know the more providence and serendipidy there will be. Who gets the most opportunity and chances in life do you think? Someone who knows one person or someone who has 5,000 to count on? Start talking because..
A pound of pluck is worth a ton of luck
US President, James A. Garfield
Step 4 – It’s all luck
Luck is omni-present. Or so lucky people profess. To them luck never deserts them at all. Of course when luck is clear and obvious like winning money or getting nice surprises it’s easy to see it everywhere. But when challenging events arise most would see that as proof that luck has truly gone. Not so the lucky. They view it that whatever difficulty came there way, it could have been worse and more damaging. In fact extremely lucky individuals believe that, even if they are trussed up in bandages full of broken bones in hospital for 6 months, it’s darn fortunate as they could have potentially been killed instead.
Take that approach. View life as one lucky streak. What you once saw as bad times could have been ten times more awful but….luckily it wasn’t. The worse that could have happened probably didn’t. Review events in your past life. How can you see them as lucky? Your heart was broken when you split up with a partner but it led you to finding your true soulmate. Stuff like that. Flip it and win in your mind. Then you can add the great final trick….
Step 5 – Keep the vibe alive
It’s phenomenal how lucky people attract more and more of it. They have an air about them that seems to magnetise luck into their orbit so they always land on their feet. I bet you know someone like that? But they aren’t selfish. In fact they are the very opposite. They are warm, outgoing, genial and help others out with encouragement. They pass the luck on.
Conversations with them are peppered with inspiration on how to be lucky. They share stories of how a seemingly wrong situation was merely a hidden lucky twist in their favour. They happily offer advice with a warm smile and relaxed manner. And guess what? It brings them even more luck. More people want to know them, talk to them, be around them and meet them. Their popularity soars and their luck factor grows and expands. Do the same and tell everyone about all your luck and share it. Keep it alive and flowing. It will come back to you tenfold and keep on growing. The best is yet to come.
Luck is just waiting to be found. By anyone. But first you have to believe in it and recognise its presence in your life since you’ve been born. Do that and it will never leave your side. Stop wishing you were lucky. Open your mind and luck will be there. And with it the happy, dream filled world you’ve always wanted.
Everything in life is luck
Donald Trump

Fascinating article. I’ve never really pondered “luck”, as deeply as you’ve broken it down in this article.
Here is my take on luck prior to reading this article…
For a few years now, from my own experiences I’ve realized a couple things about luck:
1-Anyone has the ability to be so-called lucky.
2-The harder I worked at something, seemingly, the luckier I get.
Let me build off of my last realization further. With this being said, to me luck seemed to me to be a direct effect from my actions. So, if I made the right move, I got the right result – luck.
I’m not sure if I viewed that correctly, but it surely is a motivating factor for me when I want to be lucky. “Okay, let’s have one of those lucky days”…when I say that, and I work my absolute hardest, I have one of those lucky days.
Now, let’s say I find a $20 bill at the store. This too is luck, but again, I see it as I put myself in the right position to allow luck to happen. I chose the store, the time, etc, etc – and the luck was an effect.

After reading this article my view on luck has expanded. “View life as a lucky streak” stood out to me and makes a lot of sense after reading the supporting paragraphs. What I see as bad times could have been worse, if it wasn’t for luck!
Amazing take and one that I’m glad I read. This article was just want I needed today.

With sincerity John, I appreciate your work!
Peace.
Jk, a wonderful offering as ever – most appreciated. Many people want luck but need the attitude to witness it as you did via spotting the $20 with your name on it. It’s amazing; the moment we welcome luck into our mind, the more it shows up in our life. Be lucky my friend.
Yes John, attitude is vital! When I look back at all the hard times, they could have been harder, indeed…
It all depends on where you focus – positive or negative? We attract what we focus on, so I try focusing on the positive aspects of my life
It’s not always easy, but the important thing is to keep trying.
I read somewhere that successful people consider themselves lucky, and vice versa.. Makes sense, don’t you think?
Thanks for sharing
Very true Cristina, that what you look for you see. View problems as calls to posiitve action or reminders that much could be worse and your life changes then and there. And I love what you say that “successful people consider themselves lucky and vice versa”. Cultivate a luckier attitude and reap a luckier life I believe to be a truism worth remembering
Hi John! I’m ready to get lucky right now!
I totally believe in luck. I actually believe that I’m luck all the time. I’m a big proponent of silver lining. Regardless of what throws my way, I fell lucky because I know that it’s always the best for me. There is always a lesson and a blessing in every single thing in my life. My attitude is that the best is always happening right now and therefore I’m thankful for it.
Thanks for reminding me of how great life is and that we can be lucky every single moment if that’s the attitude we live from. Loving blessings!
Andrea, you declared it now so it shall begin to appear. Feel lucky, act lucky, think lucky and speak lucky and luck will be drawn to you. Feel free to let me know what great luck came your way!
hello john,
how are you?
i’m singing from the same sheet as jk with regards to never seeing or reading the concept of luck broken down concisely into several parts.
what caught my attention is about it being a subtle under current beginning from lower levels before spreading on huge scales as the case arises.
i also agree with the notion that an increase or expansion in ones network creates the possibilities of experiencing luck or success due to contribution at different levels from several individuals.
finally a positive attitude stirs up optimism, constructive thoughts….. which give room to keeping the vibe alive and spreading the word
i enjoyed reading this article.
take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of the day.
Ayo, luck to me isn’t just the big prize winning stuff but the simple daily rhythms that permeate our everyday lives. Observe and welcome these subtler gifts and luck will become a real good friend…for life.
Great intro. That quote is funny, cute and great all at once. I guess that what happens when you listen to Dr. Seuss!!
Welcome Jonathan – the Seuss does cut you loose it’s true.
